Useful tips to protect yourself from fraud

Your vacation should be an amazing experience that will encourage you to come back again and again to that resort or destination that captivated you so much. That’s why we must caution you about potential scams you could run into both before, during, and after your vacation.

How do illegal businesses operate?

There are businesses devoted to reselling travel experiences or vacation packages for less than their typical cost and trying to pressure you into providing confidential data or making a payment.

These fake companies copy logos, electronic signatures, and the entire image of companies. Furthermore, they claim to be part of the collection, reservations, legal department, or affiliated companies.

Tips to avoid becoming a victim of fraud

We invite you to watch this video and read the following information of some suggestions to avoid becoming a victim of this type of crime:

1. Email

All communication related to the company must come from the domain @velasresorts.com

Scammers often create fake emails that appear legitimate by using addresses that closely resemble ours, with small alterations in the domain, such as changing a letter, adding a number, or using a similar domain like .net or .org instead of .com. These minor changes can be difficult to spot at first glance but are clear indicators of fraud.

If you receive a suspicious email, notify us immediately by calling or sending a message to legalinfo@velasresorts.com, our team will then proceed to report it to the relevant authorities.

Scammers can also create fake websites that mimic the look and content of our official pages. These sites usually have web addresses that closely resemble the originals but with slight modifications, such as missing letters or unnecessary added characters. If you notice any change or variation in the web address that raises doubt, consider it a fraudulent website.

Always double-check the URL and ensure it matches our official domains exactly before entering any personal or financial information.
