Cardio and weightlifting, include them in your routine at Velas Vallarta

When you think of working out, do you immediately go to your running shoes, or do you think of that amazing new pair of dumbbells? Even when each type of exercise has its benefits ranging from managing, treating, and preventing health conditions like diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, cancer, and depression, it is a good idea to incorporate both strength and cardio into your workout schedule to enhance these benefits and achieve a healthy balance.

Weight lifting increases your strength, helps enhance your coordination, and can be an aid in rehabilitating from injury; while cardio improves the efficiency of oxygen utilization as well as cardiac and respiratory function. By mixing up these types of workouts you give your body a respite from repetitive routines of cardio exercises, while you help your muscles gain strength.

The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends both forms of exercise. An average of 150 minutes per week of exercise combining moderate-intensity aerobic activity like walking, bike riding, or jogging per week and at least two days of muscle strengthening can work wonders on your health.
