Palms

What tree gives you that feeling of being in a true paradise? Indeed, the palm tree.

The resort has 21 palm trees, including the Cycas revoluta, better known as the Cica palm, either short or tall. This type of palm can simultaneously have many heads of leaves and branch out. Its crown of leaves gleams and grows up to 60 inches / 150 cm if its care is constant and the environment is suitable.

Cissus vine at the main entrance

This climbing plant adorns the facade of our resort with elegance, painting it green to immerse you in nature from the moment you arrive.

Blue Trumpet vine

The Thunbergia grandiflora, also known as the blue trumpet vine, is an evergreen plant from India that you can find in our pergolas in the pool areas. They will let you lie down and enjoy their shade and freshness.

Surprise bougainvillea

This bougainvillea receives its name due to its white leaves gradually changing to a vibrant pink. Flowers adorn almost every area of our resort, including the vegetation outside the suites.

Tiger tongue or Sansevieria

The Dracaena or Sansevieria trifasciata is a plant that can grow up to 20 inches / 50 cm tall. It is popularly known as the tiger tongue, cow tongue, mother-in-law tongue, cat tongue, tiger tail, and Saint George’s sword due to its elongated and oval shape. NASA even recommends its decorative use since it purifies the air and eliminates toxic environmental substances.

How does Velas Vallarta protect its flora?

Keeping the resort’s greenery impeccable seems like an easy task —although it isn’t— in the hands of our specialists, who know the behavior of each plant and flower perfectly; In this way, our guests will never see a neglected, mistreated, or dry garden. Among the actions taken are:

  1. The use of natural fertilizers that experts apply very carefully due to the delicacy of some species.
  2. A compost in which the dried plants are used as fertilizer and the soil, rich in natural minerals, is used to continue planting more greens.
  3. Applying irrigation at precise and strategic moments.

The challenges

Maintaining and avoiding the development of pests is always a crucial challenge since some plants are delicate. Although some are stronger than others, none is exempt from suffering from them.

The daily review of the gardens with irrigation programs and detailed examination allows everything to remain healthy, in addition to the fumigation that must be carried out without exception.

Tell us in the comments what you enjoy the most about our gardens and which is your favorite plant!
